French Language Helps

Below are several web sites that are useful in learning or reviewing French. The sites were recommended by Carol Doucet, President of Les Doucet du Monde.

The first site, and possibly the best, is: www.travlang.com.

Scroll down to get to the following steps:

1) Select a language you speak : English
2) Select a language you want to learn: French (click on it)
3) Select a category of words or phrases and click on "submit"
4) Click on the French word or phrase that you want to hear, in order to obtain the sound file
5) A gray bar appears.

a. On the left end of that bar, click on the arrow head that points to the right and you will hear the word or phrase. (Of course, we have to turn on the speakers to hear the sound.)
b. Click on that word or phrase as many times as you wish.
c. Go to another word or phrase.

The second web site is: www.francekeys.com.

This takes you to category 1, "Greetings and Courtesies:. This site works like the first one.
Choose other categories at the bottom of the page, then choose a word or phrase, etc.

A third web site is: www.frenchtutorial.com

Click on the word "more" in the sections "Standard edition" and/or "Personal edition" and follow instructions.
Avoid the "Deluxe edition" where one has to give a "donation".
This web site looks like a text book with a table of contents and index.
